How to categorise the various rulebooks in Compliance Track?

Rulebook Category

You may categorise the type of rulebook you are adopting. If you choose a standard like COBIT, you may categorise it as Best Practice. If you are a financial institution in the UK and choosing an FSA rulebook, you may categorise the rulebook as Sector Regulation. If you are choosing to comply with say Patriot’s Act, you may choose it categorise it as a Statute. By default, Compliance Track gives the rulebook category types as Sector Regulation, Statutes and Best Practice.

Subject Category

While creating a rulebook, you can select a Subject Category. Subject Category identifies the content type in the document. For example, Solvency II related rules, policies, tests etc may be categorised under the subject category of “Solvency II”, health and safety related documents under “Health & Safety”, human resources documents under “HR” etc

Regulator

Depending on the sector of your business, the rules applicable to your firm will be stipulated by one or more regulators. For example, if you are a US financial institution with offices in the UK, you may have both SEC and FSA as regulators. If UK health and safety regulation applies to you, you may add the UK Health and Safety Executive (HSE) also among your regulators.
